Aug 12, Angie Lisle rated it liked it. Some of these recipes seemed ludicrous to me -Granola Bowl, for example- because it's something that anyone can figure out while standing in their kitchen. But turn the page and there's a recipe for a vegan version of Hollandaise Benedict and, later on, an interesting version of Cream of 'Shroom Soup, which could be used as a base for many dishes. And there's a couple dishes, like Banana Dog - a cooked banana in a hot dog bun - that I have no interest trying. There's also a couple recipes, like Some of these recipes seemed ludicrous to me -Granola Bowl, for example- because it's something that anyone can figure out while standing in their kitchen.
There's also a couple recipes, like Samosas, that can be easily tweaked into some amazing munchies. Each dish comes with tips on how to make slight adjustments for use in other recipes. The book also explains how to make some of the ingredients - like tahini and almond milk - so you don't have to buy prepackaged products.
These recipes are designed to be quick, for people who don't mind using some prepackaged products like crescent roll dough, pizza dough, and ketchup. Substitutions are easy to make, if you prefer to make your own orange juice or English muffins. There's an abundance of artwork - each recipe has a real photograph accompanying it but the ingredient list is depicted as an illustration that looks like it was done for a children's picture book. I received a free digital copy of this book in exchange for a review and it was hard to make out some of the ingredients on my Nook even when I zoomed in.

I looked at this cookbook hoping for a way to make vegetables more interesting and provide some variety on the occasional evenings when I am in the mood and have the ingredients for some good vegan cuisine.
I was a little disconcerted to see when I looked inside the cover that the stoner part of the title is given as much weight as the vegan part. I could got past that. I was more interested in the recipes than the illustrations. What I had much more t I looked at this cookbook hoping for a way to make vegetables more interesting and provide some variety on the occasional evenings when I am in the mood and have the ingredients for some good vegan cuisine.
That made most of the recipes unusable to me. For those who might find the stoner amusing or applicable, or for those who want ways to tweak the mixes they already have in the cupboard, this book may be useful. View 2 comments. Although I typically like to make things from scratch, and shudder at the thought of "soy creamer" which is used often, the recipes are simple enough not to be daunting and to allow my own spin. Plus the illustrations are adorable and the photos are mouthwatering. A few of the recipes in this book are quite inventive. Most of the recipes are quick and all of them are easy.
Thy use a lot of frozen, boxed, or canned items to help move along the cooking process. My favorite part of all was the artwork through out the book. I loved it. It was quite entertaining.

Perfect cookbook for the stoned or intimidated in the vegan kitchen. The illustrations are great and fun. Recipes are easy and delicious. I don't have vegan soy yogurt or tofu dogs around often but the style is akin to a children's book making it seem so easy to make anything in it.

Many easy recipes, but I didn't copy any of them to make. For one thing, seitan simply isn't sold anywhere near my house and I'm too lazy to make it. It was called for in quite a few dishes. I prefer bean-based main dishes to those with seitan, tofu, or tempeh, mainly because my family is far more likely to eat beans.
